Dr Anne O’Connor, special advisor to the Director General of RTE, was at hand to discuss perspectives for public broadcasting in Ireland and online policies for RTE.

She revealed that under legislation the organistion cannot spend public or commercial money on the site, so they have to fund it through advertising basically. That’s food for thought next time someone wants to criticise their online strategy.
