The Distant Librarianhttp://distlib.blogs.com/distlib [The Distant Librarian] This AM on the way in to work I finished listening to a podcast version of Greg Schwartz's SirsiDynix session, A Beginner's Guide to Podcasting: Part 1 - A Consumer's Guide, and if you're at all interested in learning about podcasts I recommend it. I've been on the podcasting bandwagon since it left the station, and while I already knew most of what Greg covered, I did pick up some tips on a few new tools and services.

[Wanderings of a Student Librarian] Listening to podcasts: But Greg showed us how podcast feeds looked in My Yahoo! and I liked that, so I may put them in there so that I'm a bit more systematic about reviewing those feeds for interesting episodes.

http://coolrich59.blogspot.com  Ex Mea Sententia: But, to my surprise, I was talking to my doctor the other day and said something about a story I read on a blog and he said "Excuse me?" So, I had to explain to him what a blog was. And I'm not talking about an old geezer -- my doctor is probably about 30 years old.

[Library 2.0 :: Main Page] Addressing the critics: Given the severity of the attacks (one compared us to Dan Quayle for god's sakes), I feel that it is important for me to go on the record here to explain what I see our role to be and what value we are providing. The main thrust of the criticism has been that we have mismanaged the technical side of things and that Jenny and Michael could have been hired directly saving the ALA huge amounts of money.

http://podcastreviews.net [Podcastreviews.net] The New, New Podcast Review: Your host at the weblog is Kengo Miyazaki, and for this site he's picked a few "labels that are dealing with minimal, techno, abstract, experimental, ambient, noise and stuff like that." (from the FAQ). Kengo blogs information about new releases from his chosen labels, including label, artist, album, track information, availability of a donation page or shop, license for the MP3s, and host for the MP3s.

[Yardley.ca] Greg Yardley’s Internet Blog » MP3 poor format for podcast ...: As an observer, I can’t help but wonder - if the format for podcasting was designed from the start to support important commercial metrics like audience size, based on the understanding that everything successful is monetized, perhaps the Audibles of the world would be happily using the open format right now rather than a proprietary one, and we’d be in a much better spot. Plus startups would be able to get in on the action - at the moment the only folks that can effectively monetize podcasts are the big guys with their more-easily commericalized formats (or little guys that become dependent on the bigger ones.) The MP3 format’s utter unworkability only helps shut smaller entrepreneurs out - while not doing much to hinder larger companies.
