Fresh Podcasts > Bloggers take down unauthorized This American Life podcasts
[ (I Love Radio .org)] While I am confident that I am breaking no law, I am respecting TAL wishes by taking down the podcast and archive page which points to their MP3s. This American Life has decided to take the bizarre approach to Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) by asking nicely”¦ which I suppose is better than using some Windows only Microsoft Media Player DRM or Sony Rootkit DRM.

[Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things] More fan-kvetching over This American Life and... : "reader Christopher" claims 4 bucks per episode is "exhorbitant extortion"." No, it's commercial exploitation, a system he seems not only reluctant to, but barely able to participate in. Shop for a better deal my friend.
[Epeus' epigone - Kevin Marks weblog] Badgering the Beeb: Just as the Archbishop of York had to come from Africa to explain to the English what a treasure they have in the Anglican prayerbook, perhaps the BBC should consider how much expatriates like me and Neil care about this, and how many others would be as entranced if they could have easy access. The BBC should be ashamed that Neil Gaiman has to furtively obtain Dr Who when they have the opportunity to share it with the world.
[Brand Dialogue - a dialogue on marketing 2.0] Web 2.0/Marketing 2.0 Event Listing: My wife has been shocked by the stream of epithets and profanities that have been vented when I found out that yet another very cool-sounding conference had to be passed up.
[BlindConfidential] Audio and Music in Advertising: “You deserve a break today,” “Maxwell House is the coffee you can count on,” “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese on a sesame seed bun,” “In a Chevrolet, In the USA,” “Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet,” “Meet the Mets, Come on down and greet the Mets, Bring your children, Bring Your wife, Guaranteed to have the time of your life,” “Clearwater Mattress, Tampa Bays way to sleep,” “Im a pepper, youre a pepper, would you like to be a pepper too?” “Boller Coller, Boller Coller”¦” “The most rewarding flavor in this mans world, Schaeffer is the one beer to have when youre having more than one,” “Would you offer a Tiperillo to lady?”
[OpenMinded] The Problem with iTunes U: My company makes a podcasting appliance and podcast hosting service. And, most of our customers are universities or colleges, so I am naturally interested in "iTunes U" and how it fits into the podcasting ecosystem.
[Just One Bite | Indulge. I won't tell.] Tails I lose: Two sides to a coin and some more questions today: Tails - On losing money: I thought that I was depressed enough yesterday, then I took a closer look at my recent bank statements and coated my depression with a thick layer of humilation. I should check my statements every month, I know.
[Mobilcasting.blogspot.com] Mobile Podcasting Blog- Mobile Phone Podcast Listening and ...: Since I have been here at Melodeo, I have been working really hard to get the Mobile Podcasting topic into panels and tech/digital media thought leader events like South by Southwest Interactive in Austin, TX and many other conferences. I have to admit that it has been difficult and at times hard to understand why many digital media event organizers do not share the vision of what can happen when the potential of podcast listening and creation becomes adopted by users on the coming millions of media enabled smart phones.
[Yardley.ca] Greg Yardleys Internet Blog » MP3 poor format for podcast ...: As an observer, I can’t help but wonder - if the format for podcasting was designed from the start to support important commercial metrics like audience size, based on the understanding that everything successful is monetized, perhaps the Audibles of the world would be happily using the open format right now rather than a proprietary one, and we’d be in a much better spot. Plus startups would be able to get in on the action - at the moment the only folks that can effectively monetize podcasts are the big guys with their more-easily commericalized formats (or little guys that become dependent on the bigger ones.) The MP3 format’s utter unworkability only helps shut smaller entrepreneurs out - while not doing much to hinder larger companies.
