Canadian Rock Stars Speak Out Against P2P Lawsuits, DRM

[CANADIAN Pundit] A group of Canadian recording artists including big names like Avril Lavigne, Broken Social Scene, Sum 41 and Barenaked Ladies have formed an industry insider's watchdog group of sorts called the Canadian Music Creators Coalition. Boot Camp once again, podcast style

NBC Forms National Broadband Company for Online Video Syndication

[iPlot] NBC announced Wednesday the formation of The National Broadband Company, a joint venture between NBC and its 213 affiliates. The new company will develop ways to monetize video aggregated from NBC’s affiliates, NBC’s library, or user-created content through syndication or through a portal on the Web.

Podcasting Taking Radio Listeners

[Catholicism Anew] The Podcast audience is starting to affect the radio listening audience. I don't know if this counts, but in my own experience WRKO Boston stopped carrying the John Batchelor program and replaced him with a delayed broadcast of Michael Savage, who now adds Catholics to his list of hated people by the way. I always loved the Batchelor program, but with the internet I am not Batchelorless.

Consuming Video Podcasts

Podcasting too cool for school?

[MacUser] A new study by Forrester Research (slogan: If there's a trend in the forest, and we haven't published a study on it...does it really exist?) claims that the podcasting audience is actually much smaller than you might think, to the tune of around 1% of American households. And when they do download podcasts, they prefer to use it as an alternative form of listening to existing content, like radio broadcasts.

Forrester Research has just released some new data on podcasting in the form of a report titled Podcasting Hits the Charts (payment required) in which it reveals that only 1% of households in North America regularly use podcasts.
